Lump on foot?!

Lump on foot?
I have a pea size lump on my foot near my ankle, i think its in the skin as i can put my fingers around it. It feels like it could be cartalige or bone
I have shown to a couple of doctors who tocuhed it and knew staightaway it was nothing serious , i cant remember what they said it was called though, It is really ugly and annoying, it doesnt hurt unless i knock it ( quite reguarly as it gets in the way )
