How long does Percocets stay in system?!

Question:

How long does Percocets stay in system?

Ok. I have been on the 5/325 percs for probably 3 motnhs now. I was off them for probably 3-4 months after being on them for a few years since I have an open dternum. I told my doc I didn't take them for 3-5 days. I called my doc's office today and they told me that I had nothing in my system and since I had been on them for 3 months I should have had some in my system. I reminded trhem that I hadn't taken them in probably 5 days but they insist they should have been there since I'm on them so much. I also should add I drink probably 2 gallons of water a day.

Thanks

Are you asking because you are in pain and You think that what they are actully telling you is true?

Everyone is different and each body reacts differently. I think that if I were you, I WOULD BE PISSED!! AND TELL THEM TO MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS AND ASK TO SPEAK TO TALK TO THE DR OR HIS NURSE!

You have reason to be in pain and 3 months IS NOT A LONG TIME , try 20 years. I am NOT exaggerating! i got hurt in 1987 and that is what I have been on , howwever I am taking considerable low amts and it is now only for breakthrough pain and not to 'control" pain. I have other meds for that. But I also had a Spinal Column Stim implanted and I LOVE IT! I am on so little meds now compared to what I was taking!

At any rate, do not be afraid to ask the dr for something - You have good reason to be in pain and the staff was just being RUDE!

How should I take acetaminophen and oxycodone?

Use this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not use the medication in larger amounts, or use it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
An overdose of acetaminophen can cause serious harm. The maximum amount of acetaminophen for adults is 1 gram (1000 mg) per dose and 4 grams (4000 mg) per day. Taking more acetaminophen could cause damage to your liver. One acetaminophen and oxycodone tablet may contain up to 650 mg of acetaminophen. Know the amount of acetaminophen in the specific product you are taking.

If your medicine contains 650 mg of acetaminophen per tablet, take no more than 6 tablets in 24 hours. If your medicine contains 500 mg or less of acetaminophen, take no more than 8 tablets in 24 hours. Tell your doctor if the medicine seems to stop working as well in relieving your pain.
Take this medicine with a full glass of water. You may take the medication with food or milk if it causes stomach upset.

Measure the liquid form of this medication with a special dose-measuring spoon or cup, not a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist where you can get one.
Drink 6 to 8 full glasses of water daily to help prevent constipation while you are taking acetaminophen and oxycodone. Ask your doctor about ways to increase the fiber in your diet. Do not use a stool softener (laxative) without first asking your doctor.

If you need to have any type of surgery, tell the surgeon ahead of time that you are using acetaminophen and oxycodone. You may need to stop using the medicine for a short time.
You may have withdrawal symptoms when you stop using this medication after using it over a long period of time. Do not stop taking acetaminophen and oxycodone suddenly without first talking to your doctor. You may need to take less and less before you stop the medication completely. Store acetaminophen and oxycodone at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
