Is a big bruise around the eye without any trauma dangerous?!

Question:

Is a big bruise around the eye without any trauma dangerous?

I sat down at the table for lunch and someone asked me what happened to my face. I said nothing and they said to go look in the mirror. So I did. My face was all swollen, and I could see my veins bulging a bit. I didn't hurt, there was no trauma, nothing hit me in the head, etc. So I figured it'd go away and I left it alone. Later on it was bruised and the next day it was bruised really badly. It was never sore so I still think it is not the result of a trauma. I was playing with my daughter the morning it happened but not during the half hour before lunch. Anyway, here is a photo which shows it better than I can describe: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1335/5392...

My coworkers said it could be dangerous and that I should see a doctor. I thought if it doesn't hurt then it's ok. But now I'm wondering just exactly what happened in there!

Answers:

No, if you are not having any pain or loss of vision from it then it is fine. If you cannot look up or you lost some field of vision, then you may want to get it checked out
