Pain in my chest between ribs.. Help?!

Question:

Pain in my chest between ribs.. Help?

a while ago i've been having pains in my chest.. its always on and off for days at a stretch. its fine when i don't move, but if i inhale i begin to feel some pain. Not needle in eyes pain, just extremely uncomfortable pain. I went to the doctors and they said it was the muscles inbetween my ribs that are stressed and that i should just rest. So far, its been around. 6 months and i've had this feeling about 5 times for 3-7 days at a time.
I don't want it coming back, it affects my physical life. Anyone can help? and. will this be a problem with in my future when i get old? Thanks

Well. its on the side of my heart. the doctor took x-rays etc... its not the pecs, but yeah.. muscle between ribs..
i've been to the doctors twice and both times they just tell me its the muscles from some things ive been doing that create stress on those muscles. they tell me to just take some motrin and walk it off basically. I highly doubt that its from my weightlifting because even one period of time i wasn't weight lifting and i got that pain for a few days.

See a pulmonologist. I find it hard to believe you've been suffering this long and your doctor said it was the muscles - what caused this to begin with?
