Can blind people....?

just wondering...can blind people halucinate? like if they were blind since birth? I could believe that they could if they weren't always blind, because they know what things looks like, but what if they haven't seen anything..

This is a really interesting question. I've been dealing with patients who hallucinate and some of them have been blind.
They sometimes can verbalize their hallucinations, and from what I've heard, there apparently is a way for them to describe what the voices are telling them. They say things that denote male or female, but I dont remember ever hearing exactly what they looked like. The majority of the hallucinations are verbal, not visual. It would be interesting to do a study on this subject. Thanks again.
