How to prevent your knee from popping out of place and how to strengthen them?!

Question: How to prevent your knee from popping out of place and how to strengthen them?
I unfortunately have my mothers bad knee. And it hasn't gone completely out in two years but it just buckles or locks up now when I move my knee the wrong way. Should I be concerned? And also today my knee went the wrong way and I fixed it and it made a crack noise and I'm worried about it. Can you think of what might of happend and if I should see a docter? And how do I strengthen them to make em' stronger and prevent this from happening again

Answers:

I have the same exact problem. What I do is with a resistance band (basically a big rubber band) I lie in the floor or on the bed, bend one knee and put the band around my ankle holding each end at my sides. Start at a 90 degree angle and bend the knee fully down and then back to a 90 degree angle again. You could also do that with an ankle weight. Another on you can do is single leg lifts. Single straight leg lifts either weighted or unweighted.

you should see a doctor or a physiotherapist.
you should prob wear a knee brace if you are going to try to make it stronger. i would suggest doing some exercises for the knee to make it stronger. i dont know of any but that is why you should see a physio
