My lip piercing is infected?!

Question:

My lip piercing is infected?

okay, so like, first off, please don't tell me 'well, you got your lip pierced, you should've been expecting something like that, it's your fault' i want answers, not put downs, but for the question, okay, i've had my lip pierced for about three months now, nothing has been wrong, it's been completely fine, but about, three days ago, this large white thing started to go over the hole on the inside of my mouth, i didn't think anything of it, because my sister has her septum pierced, and her's does that a ton, and it turns out fine....but this morning, i woke up, and my lip is so swollen, that i can't even move the piercing, it hurts like a bitchhh, and i would really like to know if it's infected before i attempt to take it out.

thanks.

also, i just got a new bunny, and i could be allergic to that, my nose has been itching and running constantly, so it might be swelling because of that?
i don't know.

Answers:

It's irritated and forming scar tissue as a result.

Make sure you have good qualtiy jewerly in. Surgical steel or titanium only. If you already have surgical steel, try titanium.

Make sure that your jewelry is the correct size, snug, but not tight. If you're wearing a ring, try a labret stud, or vice versa.

The new bunny could be a part of the problem. If you're touching the bunny then touching the skin around the piercing (or the piercing itself) it could be causing the irritation. Make sure you wash your hands well after handling the rabbit.

Do sea salt soaks 2 times per day untill the irritation goes down. Go see your piercer about the jewelry. They should be able to give you some advice after seeing the piercing.
