Fast heart rate, should I be worried?!

Question: Fast heart rate, should I be worried?
I'm 19, female, about 5 foot 1 and average weight. Never had heart problems before but over the last few days my heart rate has been unusually fast. I measured it this morning whilst lying on my bed and it was 120bpm which I believe is almost double the normal resting rate. Should I be worried? I'm breathing normally, so it's nothing to do with that. Is there anything I can do to reduce my heart rate as it's making me feel really shaky, weak, sick and dizzy?

Thanks for your help.

Answers:

Yes that is not normal and it usually caused from drugs. But there could be other issues too beside that. Check your blood pressure. A very low blood pressure would cause this as well. Are you taking any medications? Normal heart rate at rest is 60-100bpm

Try taking your mind off it because it sounds like you might just be scaring yourself. Just to be safe though you should go to the doctors and get that checked There's no harm done going to the doctors!! Good luck and stay Positive your too young for anything to stress you out.

First id sat anything wit the heart should b CID via doc pronto but u can sit up knees to chest above heart n breath slow deep breaths in m out try to relax to reduce speed use any other tech jf that nature but I have a-fab which is a serious medical cond so I'd be inclined to say see ur doc soon!!

GO TO THE ER NOW... Even young people can have heart problems... More than likely you have an electrical imbalance WHICH IS SERIOUS. A resting HR of 120 is dangerous... Astronauts' heart rates during blast off are around 160!!!!!

Med student.

doctors or A and E or a drop in center because it sounds like high blood pressure
