Thumb Injury - Nerve Damage?!

Question:

Thumb Injury - Nerve Damage?

A few days ago I accidentally cut the top of my thumb (from the nailbed down to past the joint). It's a fairly deep cut, but I decided against getting stiches at time time, as I was able to stop the bleeding on my own. However...now the wound is healing, but I have numbness/tingling whenever I touch around the wounded area on the top of my thumb. In the few times that I've stupidly bent my thumb to hold something, I've had shooting "electrical" type feelings run from my thumb all the way down to my elbow. (1) Am I correct in assuming this is nerve damage? (2) Is it too late to do anything, or will this resolve itself and change without medical help?

Answers:

Its doing the healing .it will take a year or more to get some feeling back. only time will tell how much returns.
