Twisted ankle...?!

Question:

Twisted ankle...?

Today I twisted my ankle, it's pretty bad but bearable. I just have to be walking a lot tomorrow, and right now I can barely put weight on it ... what is the best thing to do right now, so I can get through tomorrow without hurting it too badly?

Answers:

watch closely and if your ankle turns blue you will need to stay off it for about two weeks. the main problem with twisted ankles is hyperextended tendons which take a long time to heal. I would avoid heat because of the amount of fluid that will build up and cause pressure. Here is the KEY to Icing your ankle and if you do it right the pain will almost be unbearable until it goes numb. put the ice on the area that hurts the most. probably below the knot on the outside of your ankle let the ice stay on your ankle until it goes numb but up until that point it will HURT a LOT. then numbness but the benefits far outweight the pain. but due to tendon damage i suggest cancelling your walking tomorrow.
