How long does a sunburn last?
Well I was on vacation, and I got a bit burned. It isnt a bad burn, i've seen and experienced worse. Its a pale pinkish sunburn. i'm what you would call "gothic white" I got it pretty recently, its been 24 hours. So far i've been applying cold compresses to get the heat out. Have Vitamin E lotion /w aloe vera handy as well as a spray. I heard that your not suspose to use any lotions/moisturizers because they hold in the heat of the burn. That you have to wait 24 hours, anyone know if this is true or not. Anyone got a guess of how long my burn is gonna stick around.
Just a side question too, while i'm here. I dont know if this happens to anyone else besides me, but whenever I'm in the sun and get the slightest burn. Instead of tanning i just get freckles.. Tons upon tons of freckles any idea why i get those instead of a tan?

Well the length of a burn depends on a couple of factors, a skin color before the burn. You said gothic white so it will be longer to heal, then if you were darker, because the pigment in your skin for a lack of a better word is virgin. Id say probably being its a pale pink 1-4 days, less if you use the aloe alot. You did the right thing using the cold compresses for the first 24 hours. Most say to wait 24 hrs for gel because the skin is so hot the gel melts and vapors out, before it can sink in. If it peels, it'll take longer peeling basically means you toasted your skin to a point where its so dry it cant rejuvinate itself even with moisturizers n such.
Ah the freckles, i have the same problem, that didnt stop for me till i got a couple burns. Not really sure why, If i had to guess I'd say the pigment on some of our skin is less/more then in other spots so your tan freckles up. The more burns/tanned you become the more the freckles turn into a tan. When i stopped using the sun for my tan, and began a 20 min twice a week tanning bed my freckles stopped coming in, just a nice tan.
