Sharp pains in my lower back?!

Question: Sharp pains in my lower back?
Over the past few weeks I've increasingly had pains in my lower back when I stretch or bend down. I'm 19, not athletic but I walk everywhere, currently visiting family so not sleeping in my usual bed. I've never had trouble before, that I can remember, my BMIs pretty high but I'm not obese or overweight, just well-built. The pain is in my lower back, just above my bum were the spine curves inwards, and I've had it on both sides intermitently, not as I can recall in the middle.

My questions are:
a) What do you think is wrong?
b) What do you think is causing it?

It aches, and it concerns me a little as it lasts for a short time after the initial pain, but its bareable. Overall I'm not too worried about it as it is, but I am concidering asking a doctor if it continues. Any advice is welcome :)

Answers:

Since you feel the pain when you bend over and because you are so young I am inclined to think that its stiffness from a different sleeping situation.

Do you drink a lot of soda and not a lot of water? The lower back area (where you are describing) is where your kidneys are located. If you have a uti or kidney infection you might have pain in that area.

You should definitley visit your doctor. Better to go and be seen and it be nothing than to not get checked out and it be something serious.

kidney problems from diabetes? Avoid sugar, especially soda. diet is ok. get the a1c test.
lose weight.
