Question: Constant pain in left side for last 4 days. What can it be?

For over a year I get pain on the left side that comes in waves. YES I have been to the doctor THREE! No kidney stones, cysts on ovaries but small and doctor said isn't cause of pain, gasteroentologist had me do a trial 2 wk no dairy diet to see if I was lactose intolerant but I still had pain. Last step is a colonscopy but my insurance won't cover it. Its $1,000!!! Since the pain comes and goes I've been putting it off I don't want to pay for the colonscopy. The last 4 days it has come strong in waves so that I feel like I'm going to pass out. Anyone else have experience with this or suggestions? I know I may end up going to ER or having the damn colonscopy. Its sad I pay $200 a month for health insurance and they won't cover the procedure! So much for health care reform!

i had pain exactly like the way your describing it in my left side last summer & when i went 2 the doctor i found out that i had a kidney infection and a bladder infection. i had a urine test but the doctors didnt have any idea what was in my pee that was causing it. they have me medicine for the infection & it worked but after i took it for about 8 out of the 10 days i was supposed to take it for, i found out i was allergic to it. if you havent tried already u should get a urine test done @ the doctors
