I have a mild case of Achilles tendinitis, how long will it take to heal?!

Question: I have a mild case of Achilles tendinitis, how long will it take to heal?
My Achilles tendon only hurts when I first wake up, or been inactive for awhile. It's very slight pain.
I hurt it by running more than I should (barefoot too).

How long should I wait before I go running again? (In the meantime, I'll be biking and swimming.)

Answers:

Before exercise try and either put some cooling spray or gel onto the area of pain or take some strong ibuprofen. Also getting a ankle support will help keep the swelling down. Also as you said you're going to do just do sports where the Achilles tendon isn't used to much such as biking and swimming. although these will still most likely make it flare up it won't be as bad as running. Just give it a while until you feel no pain and keep topped on anti inflammatory's until you return to running.

how long it will take has every connection to how well you take care of it;; there is nothing out there that says you will not reinjure from even just stepping wrong (from mild re-injury to trauma...some injuries are so inconspicuous that you don't even realize you're doing something wrong)...go get this fixed the right way...K?? cuz you just sitting there stating, well, tissue takes this long to heal..doesn't make it heal....
