I'm no Dr. but I do know that some injuries do not heal by walking it out. Our minds do not want to except our body's don't function right. Our body heals on it's own time table . Example. I am a professional driver. I fix my own stuff when it breaks and take care of my family. Well Last month I got a hip replacement and am told what not to do. Which is about everything.
I'm told to let my muscles heal and rehabilitate them or I will pull the new hip out.
Well my brain does not want to listen. It wants to drive and do stuff, but I can tell I'm pushing it.
My leg swells up and I feel sore in my hip area. If I don't listen to the Dr. I will go thru all this over again. It took me a month to walk on my own. For you my friend you better tell your coach whats going on now. You might have to give it a rest and give someone else a chance to be the hero. If you don't give a pulled or torn muscle time to heal it will get worse and or cause something to get pulled or torn some place else. Your body ,when deficient in 1 area seems to over use another area to compensate. So be careful. It's hard to sit and watch someone else do the work and you really want to get out there, but now you have the choice. Push it and you will be forced to sit on the side. Like me. My bad hip was because when I was younger I liked jumping out of trees and off my roof like a stunt man with out a cushion or soft landing. I never saw that part on T.V. you just saw someone jumping off a high place and landing safely on the ground. Duh!.
Old people would say "sonny your gonna hurt yourself" I'd tell them no I wouldn't.
Well 40 years later I realize how stupid I was and they knew something I didn't.
I'm sure you have a few good years of life left. You want to play ball with your kids one day and you won't be able to. Or you'll be limited. It's your call .
All we can do out here is share our advice.
Must be a good team. Like to know the out come. Good luck
