Does having stitches removed hurt?!

Question: Does having stitches removed hurt?
Answers:

No. It can sting a bit, but not really painful.

Once , after an operation, I had thirty-two stitches in my right hand. Two days before I had to return to the hospital to have them removed, we got snowed in. After about a week of intolerable itching, I decided to take them out myself.

So I sat on the bed armed with a small pair of nail-scissors and some tweezers and did the business. When I stood up, my hand dropped off!

No, only joking. The thing you MUST remember though, is if you do it yourself (no, not THAT! You rude person you!), after cutting the loop, not to try to pull the knotty bit through the flesh. That does make your eyes water, trust me!

Not at all.
You will feel a slight tug on the skin and that's usually it.

The stitch is cut very close to the knot and the shortest part on the stitch is pulled through. So no pain.

It hurts to get them put in but not taken out.

DON'T take them out yourself unless you have done it before. And you know when they need to come out? And what to look for if any problems has arisen such as inflammation or infection?

They are MORE likely to hurt with you doing them yourself.

Not at all
By the time there ready to be removed either the doctor or you yourself at home can cut them out and simply slide the string out gently

Having stitches removed does NOT hurt at all.

It is actually a relief to get rid of them.

no not at all it doesn't hurt, I don't exaggerate but it really feels like tickles

no
just feels funny as they slide out from under your skin
