Why does the toe to the left of my big toe hurt?!

Question: Why does the toe to the left of my big toe hurt?
On my left foot, the toe right next to my big toe (obviously to the left) is really hurting - it started yesterday, its not green or anything so its not infected, it was a little red yesterday but its not now. It's not really the bone or the skin its more like the top were the nail is as if its coming of or something. When I touch the nail it hurts - quite badly not that makes me cry or twitch, enough pain to stop straight away. What could be wrong?

Answers:

If you stubbed your toe or if someone stepped on your foot this can happen.
Maybe, just maybe ,could your shoes be the problem, pinching perhaps?

these things have caused sore toes for me.

It's possible that you have a slight skin infection in the toe - this can make the toe red and surprisingly painful. I suggest you apply antiseptic such as Savlon and a dressing, but if it doesn't start to clear up in a day or two, ask your doctor for antibiotics.
