A knee replacement has been recommended for me by the specialist. Has anyone had!

Question: A knee replacement has been recommended for me by the specialist. Has anyone had one?
I have a severe knee injury and the specialist has mentioned that i will need a knee replacement.
Has anyone had one and does it feel like your normal knee or does it cause lots of issues like moving around etc. Can anyone tell me the aftermath and how it has affected your life after having the op.

Answers:

A neighbor lady had one done and had lots of pain from it. You don't mention what happened that they are recommending surgery, but there are times the tendons tighten up pulling your kneecap up on and into he knee to bind it up and cause pains. If that is happening to you you might want to try freeing up the tendon to the muscle for the kneecap and that may give you the movement back to your knee again without pains. When that tendon is tight it's hard to lift that leg for doing stairs, it's when the most pain kicks in. Here's how to free up that tendon:
Kneecaps:
Do while sitting on a chair with no front cross braces between the legs.
While sitting have your leg resting in a stretched position. Place both your thumbs, side by side, about 2 inches behind the kneecap and press down into your leg hard and then redirect the pressure a little towards the kneecap. After one minute slowly slide your foot back and under your chair as far as it will go, release the pressure but hold your foot there for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Yes I had a BI-LATERAL,which is both knees replaced in the one operation. That was 5yrs ago and I have a little job delivering leaflets,I walk about 6-7 miles a day 3 days a week,so everything is O.K. NO WORRIES.You must stick at your Physio or else you will have trouble,"No gain without pain"I also had a shoulder joint replaced ! If you do your exercises you will be OK,STICK AT YOUR PHYSIOTHERAPY

my mum had one done nearly 2 yrs ago and no complications
apart from a minor infection
it did not take her long to be up and about though
she seems to have no issues with her new knee
go for it it can really improve your quality of life no end
