Question: Does it still count as sleep even if you don't drift off?
Just wondering because I spent 4 out of 8 hours trying to get to sleep last night. I had my eyes closed but didn't drift off until about 3.00am. How many hours of sleep did I get last night?

you got 4 hours of sleep. Laying there does nothing. Sleep is only valued if you go through a full cycle which includes REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. This is where the body recharges the most.

Yes, sometimes people just cant fall asleep for various reasons. If it continues see a professional. Young people should get a solid nine hours of sleep a night. And breaking it up, despite popular belief, is not the same.
