Globus? Cannot swallow? what the heck is wrong with me?!

Question: Globus? Cannot swallow? what the heck is wrong with me?
OK so i have this weird issue now for quiteee a while. i asked my doctor and he said its called "globus"
what i feel is like a lump in the throat, which i think is from thick saliva or something.
anyway, he said stop drinking coffee and it should go away. it hasn't.

after i eat i feel like i'm gagging because of this lump. my only vice from this is like coughing, the hack cough you would do if you were about to hawk a loogie. gross. and as you can imagine this isn't great in most social occasions.
i thought i was going to throw up in the airport while i was eating a muffin. this is getting ridiculous.

ANYWAY!

my question is if any one knows a remedy, medication, treatment, SOMEthing that will ease this brutal condition.

any info is greatly appreciated

thank you so so much, :)

Answers:

It sounds like you might have whooping cough or a rare upper respiratory infection. Many times colonies can develop in an around the epiglottis and cause an actual obstruction.

Go back to your doctor and tell him you were almost choking because of these symptoms. If he doesnt order a more through investigation, get another doctor. Many times this can quickly progress to actual septic infections and/or respiratory failures of varying degrees.
