I haven't had a shot in like... forever?!

Question: I haven't had a shot in like... forever?
Here's the thing... the last time i went to the doctor was when i was 6. And the last time i had a shot was like 11-12 years ago. I'm 15. How worried should I be? My dad's a doctor so whenever I was sick I'd ask him questions, and the last time I threw up was when I was 6. I know I was supposed to get a booster shot about 2-3 years ago but I never did... How bad/dangerous is this? And also I've never had the chicken pox because I had a vaccine when I was a baby. One more time: how dangerous is this?

Answers:

Well the most dangerous right now is the flu and measles, both are lethal and both are easily preventable.

I'm surprised your dad/doctor has not given you a shot.

Last year a friend of mine and her whole family nearly died from the flu, spend a whole month in the ER unconscious and on life support. She's recovering now, thankfully.

I have a degree and worked in health care.

Hi I wouldn't be extremely worried over this. I would ring your doctor and inform them of the situation regarding your vaccine status, they will then advise you/your parent of what vaccines you need to have and organise for you to have a booster. job done :-)
