I dislocated my left knee cap... How long until it will be fully healed?!

Question: I dislocated my left knee cap... How long until it will be fully healed?
Ok so last Wednesday I was doing a cartwheel and when I was in the air I completely twisted my leg and my knee cap got dislocated. The ambulance came cus I had no idea what had happened but they popped it back in right away. Now I'm on a small brace and crutches. The thing is I can't bend it at all! I'm kinda worried so does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? I've already been to a doctor and they said I should be able to bend it. Also how long will it take to completely heal? Any answers are ok. Thank you

Answers:

This can take a while as in up to 6 weeks. You likely sprained ligaments around your knee and could have strained the tendons that attach to your knee cap. Ligaments and tendons are poorly vascularized and will take longer to heal as a result. But, you will want to continue passive motion (flexing it) and if you are doing any kinds of activity (to tolerance) you will want to brace it to keep from re-injuring it. I am guessing you are younger (not many oldsters do cartwheels) and so you should bounce back quickly :)

several sprain/strain injuries personally

it can take years depending on how you take care of it. sometimes its even permanent, but rare case if i were you ill just take good care of it for six months no running or any hard physical activity that way it can heal well.
