Is eating late at night, every night bad for you?!

Question: Is eating late at night, every night bad for you?
I'm in college, and recently I got into this habit of eating at around midnight (my suite is so loud sometimes that I got use to sleeping at around 2 am or later)...I do this every night and today I tried to not do it, but my stomach was just really hungry.

I never gain any weight..(and I tend to be a little bit underweight..maybe cuz i have light bone mass or something and a fast matoblism) but even when I eat a lot of junk food, I dont' gain any weight so I'm usually not concerned whether I eat healthy or not but I know this will probably come back to haunt me some day..

I'm not experiencing any bad effects taht I can see of right now...

But does anybody know if there are bad effects that I haven't seen now or that may occur later in life?

Thanks

Answers:

I did this all the time and it resulted in acid reflux. Which, sucks. It's caused when the food comes up because gravity doesn't work when your laying down, so the food comes up. You get heartburn, "baby barfs"(regurgitation), nausea, and a disgusting taste in your throat. Make sure you eat at least 2-3 hours before you sleep, and use at least 2 pillows, or you might get acid reflux which by the way, the pills for it are expensive. Otherways, if you are not over eating, you shouldn't have any weight problems.

good question i do that too haha but just cuz i feel like it

plz help me!!

Best to not eat past 7 or 8.

bad for your digestion

Think like this: Whatever you eat at night = 2x the "bad stuff" for you during the day. That includes gaining weight 2x as fast.

This happens because you pretty much go to bed after you eat and sleeping does NOT help digest food.

That's why we are not suppose to have BIG meals for dinner, but then that's usually the only meal where the family gets to eat together.

But then again, I used to eat cereal every night and didn't get any weight gain either. I think they are gonna show up once we start to age.
