Abdominal pain on my right side. Constant mild pain that sometimes surges to pai!

Question: Abdominal pain on my right side. Constant mild pain that sometimes surges to painful pressure. ?
The pain is hard to explain. It is between my ribs and hip and wraps around to both my stomach and back. It mostly a mild annoying constant pain 3/10 but can build up to 7/10 for 10- 45 minutes at a time. I went to urgent care and they took xrays, blood, urine ect.. they said I needed a CT scan. Insurance is "reviewing" if I actually need one. Any ideas??

Answers:

In the right 2 quadrants of your stomach is your liver, gall bladder and appendix, also since you feel the pain also in your back it could also be a kidney infection. When you went to urgent care they took blood tests so you could rule out appendicitis, and since you were examined by a medical doctor, wait until you get the prescribed CT scan before you hear a guess for an answer, you will be less nervous this way.
Good luck!

Did they check for "grumbling" appendicitis?
That's one you can do at home - lie on your back. Imagine an equilateral triangle with the base line being your navel to the top of your right hip. The top point of the triangle goes down towards your pubic bone. Press on that area. If it feels no different from other pressure areas then you've ruled out one thing, probably.
Are you constipated - the ascending portion of the large intestine follows the line you describe.
Have you had a problem with a duodenal ulcer? Gall stones?
So many odds and ends in that quadrant.
Thank goodness for the UK's National Health Scheme, with all its faults. If a doc says a patient needs a CT scan, the patient gets it.

Its called flank pain, It could be 'cos of kidney, gall stone, live or pancreas or digestive enzyme problem.
Go a head and do the tests. Its not as simple as a common flu to ignore. hope you feel better soon,

If it feels sometimes like its pulling hard, you might have a hernia. But then again I'm not a doctor, so you should listen to your M.D. instead of Yahoo Answers people.
