Pain when eating and biting?!

Question: Pain when eating and biting?
My brother (88) has suddenly developed such pain when trying to chew, that he's had to resort to a liquid diet. Awful for him.
His dentist says it's a medical problem because he can't find anything wrong with his teeth.
His doctor says it's a dental problem because he can't identify anything wrong with his mouth or jaw, and he'll just have to take lots of painkillers. And liquid diet.

Anyone out on Answers can give help or advice please?

Answers:

Had he had an x-ray of his mouth? As this would rule out abscesses and other issues. Is there a possibility that he has had a fall where he may have caused trauma to his head/jaw? Does he have any preexisting health conditions for example a stroke, Parkinson's disease, etc?

Can he pinpoint where the pain is? in the tooth, in the jaw or anywhere else in his head? Does he wear dentures? Personally getting a second dental opinion would be a good idea however if this is inconclusive then pushing for a dental referral to the oral surgeon or a GP referral to orthopedics or neurology may be the best cause of action.

Get him check with another dentist for infection. Sensitivity could also be another reason.

Swap dentists and get him to brush his teeth really really good. Or then he might just have developed sensitive teeth.
