Does sleeping only 3 hours in a 38 hours count as having a bout of insomnia?!

Question: Does sleeping only 3 hours in a 38 hours count as having a bout of insomnia?
I do not know if i can count this a insomnia. I have not slept but a total of 3 hours in the past 38 hours. I try and sleep but can not seem to keep my eyes shut for long. It is making things unbearable. Also does anyone have any suggestions on how to go to sleep and stay asleep for at least 5 hours straight?

Answers:

If I were you, I'd cut out the caffeine all together or at least switch to decaff coffee. It'll wake you gently in the morning, instead of a jolt. I had to come off caffeine altogether as I had the same problem. I would stay up for 96 hours sometimes (4 days straight). I went to my GP and found out that normal coffee & tea has 30mg of caffeine in each cup. Think about it:count up how many cups of tea & coffee you have daily, times that by 30 then you'll know how much caffeine you're having daily. I think if you add up how much caffeine you're taking, you'd scare yourself. As for sleeping properly, ease down at night.Have some 'me time'. I know you care about your daughter, but you've also got to care about yourself. After she's gone to bed, relax, treat yourself to a cup of hot chocolate or something you fancy. Remember:you need some 'ME time'.

Personal Experience.

There are lots of factors on why you are sleeping less than the normal sleeping hours, before considering as an insomnia, you might have a lot of caffeine intake for the past 24 hours that is why you can't sleep well otherwise you might really have an insomnia disorder, There is a tips to get enough sleep, before going to bed try drinking a milk or drink / eat any kind of breakfast meals and guaranteed you will sleep.
