Why does my body twitch and spasm while I lie down to sleep?!

Question: Why does my body twitch and spasm while I lie down to sleep?
You know that reaction you get after you get that dream where you are falling? I am getting that reaction while half awake, lying in bed, and it usually prevents me from sleeping.

Am I a freak? I would say I typically have a sedentary lifestyle, i skate to school and back, and skate anywhere else i need to go, and for the rest of the day, i sit on a computer chair and surf the internet.

Answers:

This strange muscle twitch is known as a hypnagogic myoclonic twitch or “Hypnic jerk” If this has happened to you on more than one occasion, don’t worry, you are not alone. Close to 70 percent of all people experience this just after nodding off.

It usually happens to me at least once every night before I fully fall asleep. Sometimes more.
This is completely normal!
