Burned my finger on curling iron?!

Question: Burned my finger on curling iron?
K, so i was trying to do the wrap around curling iron thing, and i burned my finger . I put cold water on it for about 1 minute, and now its been an hour and it really stings. I heard somewhere that i should put hot water, and also just to put a bandaid. Which should i do? Its really not that bad of a burn, but it stings/

Answers:

You did the right thing by running it under cold water. DONT USE HOT WATER! If it still stings, run cold water over it again. If its not blistered you should be fine. I would get a wet bit of kitchen towel and just use it as a cold compress. Its sounds like a superficial burn, so it should be ok, you might find a little mark, but that will fade when it heals.
I have been burned with my straighteners, and wowzers, does it burn!!! but imagine what its doing to your hair! . i still straighten it every day tho... we never learn XXX Just watch the fingers!

Soak the burn in cool water for at least 5 minutes. The cool water helps reduce swelling by pulling heat away from the burned skin.

Treat the burn with a skin care product that protects and heals skin, such as aloe vera cream or an antibiotic ointment. You can wrap a dry gauze bandage loosely around the burn. This will protect the area and keep the air off of it.

Take an over-the-counter pain reliever, such as acetaminophen (one brand name: Tylenol), ibuprofen (some brand names: Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (brand name: Aleve), to help with the pain. Ibuprofen and naproxen will also help with swelling.

Put a piece of ice on it until it feels better. There's a lot of old wives tales about what to do for a burn, but I don't think any of them really work. At least ice will make it feel better!

If you can't get a burn spray from a chemist, then just stick to COLD water and leave it open to the air.
