How do I get rid of my bad cramps?!

Question: How do I get rid of my bad cramps?
I woke up at 5 am this morning with bad cramps and realized I had gotten my period. I tried taking medicine, but my cramps are so intense that I just threw the medicine up. I have a heating pad on the area my cramps are on, but it's not helping.
Any ideas please? :(
Thank you!

Answers:

I have lots of ideas for you.

Heat: I see the heating pad isn't helping you. Do you have a hot water bottle? Many girls say moist heat works better, or you can try a hot bath, that seems to work well for many.

Cold: Some girls with major cramping say that putting an ice pack/bag on their stomach is all that helps them. If you don't have an ice bag you can put ice in a washcloth or even use a bag of frozen veggies like peas or corn.

Exercise: Lots of girls used MILD exercise like walking and stretching. Anything to sort of easily exercise your abdomen.

Pressure: You can press on your stomach where it hurts or give it a deep massage. Just start slow and light then add more pressure as your cramps diminish. Or you can lay on your tummy on something like a rolled up blanket, pillow, ball, or even your own hands. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr92UvwGx…

Ointments/creams: Lots of girls used these. Tiger Balm was most popular but others like Ben Gay, Icy Hot, Asercreme, etc. worked also. Just be sure to test these on a small area of skin before rubbing on your stomach in case you have an allergic reaction!

Food/drinks: Lots of girls get some relief by eating foods high in potassium like banans or prunes. Many said drinking hot tea, preferably chamomile or peppermint were most popular but any tea can help.

Hope you find something that helps you with your cramps...feel better soon!

Numerous in depth surveys on menstrual cramps.

Some women get really bad cramps when they have tight back muscles. When your period sets in it tightens up your muscles a little which isn't really noticed. When you have tight muscles already it's a different story. The extra tightness is causing your back muscles to press onto the nerves, as they leave the spine, going to your organs to make them act up or go into pain. Pressure on the nerves to your ovaries will cause extra pain in them and the cramps to be worse. If you haven't experienced cramps this bad before this is probably what happened to you. To get rid of the cramps you have to free up your back muscles to get the pressure off the nerves and here's how to do that:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

:-/ Cramps grrr no fun at all,

Here are a few tips ma'am,

Take a magnesium supplement (if it's ok with your doctor take daily) helps with cramps and to virtually eliminate or prevent them in the future.

Change in diet may eliminate or reduce cramps .....cut out sugar, beef, caffeine, junk food, sodium, and non organic dairy.

Drink water(stay hydrated), eat asparagus, raw spinach, veggies, berries, nuts (in moderation) a few times a day, drink white teas helps with bloating and cramping.

Get well

take a hot towel and out it across your stomach, or take a hot bath and massage your stomach. Cramps are spasms of the uterus so massaging it will do good to help it relax the muscles Then take medicine. The meds will most definitely stay down and you know what will happen from there. :)

Hope I helped.

knew a girl who had polycystic ovaries which made her have TERRIBLE cramps EVERY month.

Take a shower with the water temperature hotter than usual.

I read it in seventeen magazine.

curl up in a ball on the floor/take Advil/wait it out
