Is my toe broken? What should I do? :(?!

Question: Is my toe broken? What should I do? :(?
Last night, I slammed by left pinky toe in to the leg of my dining room table and the pain was excruciating! It instantly swelled up and my mom put ice on it. This morning, it was still pretty swollen, but I had to go to school. I go to a private school so I had to put on tights and school shoes, again the pain was excruciating doing so. I went through the day in pain and walked 15 blocks home. I have chubby-ish toes, so I can't tell if it's swollen now. The pain is in my toe and goes into the side of my foot. It hurts a lot, but my mom says nothing's wrong with it. I'm going to get a check up for high school on Saturday, so I'll show the doctor if it still hurts, but for now what should I do?

Answers:

If you broke it the only thing you can do for it right this moment is to tape it with some medical tape to the toe next to it. You're already going to the doctor- so I'd keep ice on it. My mom always told me the only thing a doctor will do for a broken toe is tape it like I told you. It's possible you sprained your poor little toe too. I've done that. The pain goes away in a few days.
OR you could try soaking your foot in some warm Epsom salt water- that would help if it's a sprain.
Hope it helps!!

Personal experience

i hit my toe on my set of draws and the pain was really bad too, i also heard a crack so i didnt know whether my toe was broken or not. I went to the doctor and it was broken..great:/

so i would suggest go to the doctor and have it checked just incase :) its takes a few months to heal mine did so yours may be the same

if it's swollen and black/blue, it's broken. and if you can't put any weight on it.

Ignore it and get on with life? I think i've broken 4 of my toes ..
