What is the pain in my wrist/thumb?!

Question: What is the pain in my wrist/thumb?
I play alot of sports, namely baseball, basketball, hockey, and guitar as an instrument. Lately, whether in class or after hitting a ball, I notice a little bit of pain in the base of my thumb, and my wrist.
When I press my thumb pad against the side of my index finger, my thumb gets very weak, and starts trembling a lot. If I do this enough, the pain moves to my wrist.
My worst fear is carpal tunnel syndrome- but I'm only 16, so is it possible to even get it that young? Any help is appreciated.

Answers:

The best test for carpal tunnel is put the back of your hands together, kinda like praying upside-down. and give yourself a "chicken wing". Hold it for like 10 seconds, pushing pretty hard, and than release. If you lost feeling in your hands than you most likely have some onset of the syndrome.

Now you could also be having some carpal tunnel symptoms due to working with your hands alot lately. Like when i first started as a sheet metal fabricator i was experiencing many symptoms. Alot of snipping metal by hand. It went away after i got used to "gripping" so much. (you know like the grip exercise tools?)

Anyway, hope that helps. And just because you have symptoms of carpal tunnel does not mean you have it.

Sounds like de Quervains. Mistaken for Carpal Tunnel alot.

Sports? Try loosening the grip on your dick or changing hands and all should be fine.
