Severe pain, is it the prednisone or something else?!

Question: Severe pain, is it the prednisone or something else?
I had an asthma attack a week ago and was prescribed prednisone. I only took it for 6 days and stopped yesterday. I didn't wean off it or anything, my doctor told me it was okay to just stop. Now I'm experiencing severe pain all over. I feel like I've been beaten with a baseball bat; sort of like I'm covered in bruises, but I can't actually see any. My joints are sore, I've got nausea, and I've been getting headaches. The pain is worst in my chest, back, neck, and shoulders. What's causing this? Should I see a doctor, or is there a way of treating this myself? How long will it last? Help!

Answers:

Could very well be from the Prednisone. Depends on what dosage you were prescribed. I've been taking it for the past 7 days, and have two days to go in the weaning process. I've had to do 60, 40, 20 mg. Having taken Pred in the past, I'd never suggest anybody go off of it cold. If it's side effects from the Prednisone, there's really not much you can do, but I'd call the doctor back and see what he says. Sometimes they put you back on a little, and then do the weaning off process.
