Moving my head hurts the back of my head?!

Question: Moving my head hurts the back of my head?
I was fixing something that requires me to look down for about a hour. Now when I move my head up, down, and left, or keep it in a certain spot it hurts in back of my head at the middle part. I feel kinda dizzy when the pain comes. If I keep my head down looking down at the floor it stops hurting. What did I injure?

Answers:

You didn't injure the muscles of your neck, but rather strained them to point where they are now inflamed. Lie down and keep your neck in a neutral position of comfort while applying warm damp towels or a heating pad in the affected area, then substitute a cold compress. Try to massage the area to see if there are any knots, or constrictions that feel hard and painful. Also take a inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen.

You tightened up your neck muscles and yes, they will cause the blood to slow down enough that the brain is starved for oxygen so you will get dizzy from them. Your muscles go to the top of your head so the pains in the back are right off the muscles. Here's how to free up your neck muscles for your relief:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about one minute, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

You probably just strained your muscles in your neck because they were in an uncomfortable position for a long time.
Just ice it and take something to reduce the swelling.
