Coughing and chest pain?!

Question: Coughing and chest pain?
I've been coughing alot today and yesturday and because of this my chest hurts. Someone told me I might have pneumonia and to go to the doctor. I looked it up and it says if you have pneumonia you will have fevers which of course is followed by sweating and chills. Well I havnt had any fevers but last week I had a cold. Could this just be because of the cold since I don't have any fevers? Anything helpful would be deeply appreciated

Answers:

While coughing you can pinched muscles in your back. Pinched back muscles often send pains around your body on the nerves to become pains in the rib, chest or heart areas. Freeing up your back muscles will get rid of the pain and here's how to free them up:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

You would have a fever with pneumonia. Often, those deep-chesty coughs just hurt because of the repetitive strain. I wouldn't worry about it unless you develop a fever, chills, etc.

I'm an RN
