Is it safe to wear contacts in the shower?!

Question:

Is it safe to wear contacts in the shower?

just wondering cuz im getting some contacts next month

Answers:

If you can avoid wearing your contact lenses in the shower it would be best that you did! Firstly it is possible for your contact lenses can get flushed out of your eyes and go down the drain. Also your contact lenses can get contaminated from the soap/water and cause your eye irritation and possible infection. I know it can be a rare occurrence but tap water can contain an amoeba called acanthamoeba and can cause a very serious infection if contact lenses are contained with this amoeba!
If soap/shampoo/face wash got in your eyes when wearing contacts not only would it sting...but you would need to remove them immediately.
I wouldn't really consider it convenient in the middle of a shower to have to take out your contacts and have to rinse them in solution etc....
In my opinion unless you have very poor vision then it is best to shower before you put your contact lenses in :)
Anyways discuss this issue with your eye doctor when you are getting your contact lenses :)
