My hubby and I just had LASIK/PRK in the past 2 months.
We are in the southeast and paid about $3000 for each of us after our vision insurance discount. I had checked around...and it was quite common for $4200 for both eyes without our vision benefit.
We went with the surgeon...not the price. The place that offered $299/eye...couldn't find anything on the surgeon ANYWHERE...so, because I could find nothing...no background, no education...no ophthalmological or medical affiliations...hell no...these are the only pairs of eyes we have...not gonna save $$ that way if we end up needing a corneal transplant or two down the road.
The surgeon we used came highly recommended from a corneal specialist from my office. He was booked solid for the next 3 months...so he referred us to a colleague from a nearby town. Best surgeon we could ask for.
The average cost of laser vision correction is $1250-2100 per eye nationwide.
