Help! Why are my eyes still red?!

Question:

Help! Why are my eyes still red?

Ok, so here's the deal. In May I was diagnosed with pink eye. I took the prescribed medicine and I had a terrible allergic reacation, and my eyes were worse than before I started the medicine. Then my doctor gave me a new medicine which cleared all of the redness up. Then I began wearing my contacts again, after my doctor said it would be ok. However, whenever I wear my contacts, my eyes are red when it is time to take them out. They get progressively worse and worse each time I wear my contacts. I went to my doctor and he said it was just my seasonal allergies, and he prescribed allergy drops (not antibiotics). So Ive been using those, but STILL when I wear my contacts my eyes get red! It can't be the contacts because I had been wearing the same kind for about 5 months before I was diagnosed with pink eye, or can it? I have also been using the same contact solution that I have been using for about 2 years.

WHATS WRONG WITH ME. WHAT SHOULD I DO?!!?!?

Answers:

Ok. First of all make sure that you are not wearing the same contacts you had with the infections. Wear fresh ones. Also make sure you have a fresh case and new solution just in case they got contaminated. Then, do not use the allergy drops with your contacts in. put your contacts in 10 minutes AFTER you have put in the drops in the morning and then use them after your contacts are out at night. Most allergy drops have a preservative that dissapates 10 minutes after they are put in, but if your contacts are in they might stick to it like velcro and cause irritation . Some of the RX drops are great like Patanol, but if that is not what you are using you might ask for a script for that. OSme peole that do not respond well to that do great with over the counter Zaditor! I have eye allergies and wear contacts too. I have reactions to different ckinds of make up and have recently switched to some more natural cosmetics becuase they have less preservatives in them, which it seams cause me irritation. I also use Clear Care for my solution as it leaves no preservatives behind, but you really have to read the directions and follow it as it says. Good luck! I hope this all helps!
