Eye problems...?!

Question:

Eye problems...?

Ok, my eyesight is REALLY bad! My eye doctor said my vision was 20/250(In english that means REALLY bad) He also said that that means I'm legally blind without glasses or contacts. I wear contacts though! My grandma wants me to look up food I cuold eat that might help improve my vision. I've looked in a lot of places but can't find anything. I know carrots help, but is there anything else that might help me out?
Please and thank you

Hi Laynie. I had worse vision growing up than you do (worse than 20/400...couldn't see the chart unless it was lit up...then all I saw was a light blob on the wall)...and I was told the old wives' tale of carrots...

I ate so many carrots I started turning a little yellowish...and it didn't help my vision WHATSOEVER!!! Honestly, I'm not sure that any particular foods will help. One thing that I've noticed since I quit drinking so much pop and more water, my eyes do not get dried out as much cause I'm well hydrated, which helps clear my vision up from dry eyes...I also had PRK and was told to drink plenty of water.

There are nutrients which are supposed to help with eye health...vitamins, zinc, and the antoxidants, and lutein, but there is no true proof that myopia can be reversed.

Myth: Eating carrots will improve your vision.
Fact: Carrots are high in Vitamin A, which is important for a balanced diet. Eating carrots or other foods high in Vitamin A will not improve your vision. Taking large amounts of Vitamin A can be very harmful. People that do not eat a balanced diet can develop vision problems along with other problems as they age.

Interesting link below about many myths and the corresponding facts related to vision.

There is a condition out there that many older people have...and there are vitamins that my doctors prescribe to help maintain the vision they have left...but it will never improve their vision.
