I am new to wearing contact lenses? everytime i put in the lenses there's an exc!

Question:

I am new to wearing contact lenses? everytime i put in the lenses there's an excruciating pain in the eyes?

is it normal for first time users? the pain is however brief and i wear the lens the rest of the day without any discomfort

Answers:

Excruciating pain? The most you should feel that is considered normal is maybe some mild stinging...not excruciating pain.

Did you wash your hands? Did you rinse ALL of the soap off? If you have any left on your hands, it will burn.

Did you rinse the lens off good with fresh solution?

Did you examine the lenses to make sure they aren't torn or nicked? Torn or nicked contacts can cause excruciating pain.

Are you putting them in inside out? That really doesn't cause pain - if you can even get them in like that, they usually just pop right back out.

If you have checked all of th above, I would call your doctor. Perhaps you need to use a different solution if you are sensitive to the preservatives in the brand they gave you to use. Either way, excruciating pain is NOT normal for first-time users.
