How to get rid of eye boogers?!

Question:

How to get rid of eye boogers?

Ever since I was about 9 or so I have had what is commonly known as eye boogers... I am now 30 and still have the stupid things. I know gross.. they don't make my eyes hurt but do get very irritating. I would really like to know if there is any way I could get rid of them once and for all. I have tried the traditional soap and water, also tried baby oil for a couple weeks maybe 3 and with no success. It sure would be nice to have my huge eyelashes back and not be pulling them out every day from digging the crust out of my eyes. Thanks for any reply and yall have a great day.

Hmmm I've never thought about allergies. I don't think my eyes water much but I've always had at least 1 animal in the house. I will try that thank you for such the quick response!!!!

Boogers- the little crusty things on your eyes that are hard and yucky. Sometimes it feels like I am actually picking scab like things off of my eyes, all day long.

Answers:

An eye allergy is a possibility. Also when I've had particularly dry eyes (and didn't really realize it til the eye boggies started) I had a problem.

You can also try artificial tear drops...not Visine, but lubricating drops. Use a couple of drops prior to going to bed, or there is lubricating ointment out there also. And use a couple of drops in the morning when you wake up. Also use the drops whenever during the day.

If you find the antihistamines are working for you, there are also prescription allergy eye drops called Patanol that your doctor can prescribe if you're having the drowsiness with the oral medication.

Stay away from baby and other oils around your eyes, as ingredients in those can actually worsen any problems you may have. If you need to do lid scrubs for lid hygiene, use the tear free baby shampoo as instructed by your eye doctor.

Believe it or not, the sleep we wake up with in the morning is very common and the above treatments are the most common the ophthalmologists in my office recommend without prescriptions.
