Contact Lens solution?!

Question:

Contact Lens solution?

Alright, I have a pair of theatrical sclera contact lenses, and I have a question. The company I purchased them from said that I should store my lenses in Cibavision's Quick Care solution, because no-rub solutions could damage the paint on the lens. Well, a few months...quite a few months ago...I ran out of solution, and could no longer find the solution at any store. They have since been stewing in their lens case in the solution I put them in all those months ago. My question is this: If I get a new solution for them and re-clean them, would they be alright to wear?

Also, to the person that just answered. These lenses are hand-made by 9mmsfx.com and can last numerous years. The problem I have here is they are sclera lenses (they cover the entire eye, not just the iris), so even when they were new, I always got a bit of discomfort and blurriness until my eyes adjust, which is anywhere from 20-40 minutes. So how would I know discomfort from bad lenses from normal discomfort?

Answers:

I would clean them again with the ClearCare and rinse after cleaning with some sterile saline, like Blairex or some other non-no-rub saline. If you feel any discomfort at all wearing those lenses (ie dryness, irritation, redness, stinging, blurred vision), then take them out and see your optometrist about them. He or she should also have told you how often to dispose of those contacts. Go by those guidelines exactly. No extending of the wear time.

Most of those lenses are built to be either a quarterly replacement to a yearly replacement lens, so you should be ok. But, feeling or seeing anything out the ordinary when you wear them, best bet is to toss them and get some new ones. I know those are expensive, but so is reconstructive surgery to your eyes if they get jacked up by bad contacts.
