Please Explain My Eye Color - Anyone Seen These Before?!

Question:

Please Explain My Eye Color - Anyone Seen These Before?

My eyes are a blue with an orange-appearing ring around the pupil. Anyone else have eyes like these? If my eyes were green with this ring, like my sister, they would be called hazel. Is there a name for blue ones?

Answers:

It is called central Heterochromia iridis! This just means 2 different colors in the same iris! I know someone with the exact same eyes....they look pretty neat! The term for having 2 different color eyes is very similar " Heterochromia iridum" (like having one blue eye and the other brown for example)

Central Heterochromia is where the central (pupillary) zone of the iris is a darker color than the mid-peripheral (ciliary) zone...(example: blue eye with brown around the pupil like your eyes) Technically your eyes would be considered blue because they are mostly that color!

This is usually very normal and only a cause for concern if this appears suddenly or begins to change!!!
