Why can't dr's offices order an odd number of contact lenses?!

Question:

Why can't dr's offices order an odd number of contact lenses?

I ripped one of mine a few months ago, so when I went to get lenses for the next six months they claimed they could only order them by the box which would be 6 lenses. Why can't they order 7? It's kind of stupid and a waste of $6 because sometimes you accidentally rip one or get a scratch and have to throw it away.

Answers:

The doctor's office orders the contact lenses from the manufacturers that make them. With most types of contact lenses they sell them in boxes of six.... that is just the way it is!! The manufacturer's only offer some types of lenses to be sold in boxes of 6!! Your doctors office has no control over this how the contact lens manufactures choose to package your lenses. The only way you can avoid this is wearing contact lenses that are sold separately in vials. These contacts are usually a lot more expensive! Also it is possible if the reason why your contact lenses ripped was due to a defect they will replace the lens for free!
Buying a new box of lenses is not a waste of money...because you will end up wearing all of the lenses eventually anyways....and who knows maybe you will rip or damage another one and even it out :)
