Dialted eyes...?!
Question:
Dialted eyes...?
so i got my eyes dialted at about 10: 20 today and i have tennis practice at 1 and it is pretty sunny out. do you think that my eyes will be better by then (better enough to play tennis) and is there anything that i can do that will help my eyes, like being in the light a lot, if i do that then will my eyes get used to it faster?? or should i stay in the shade??
Answers:
It depends on the strength of medication that they used to dilate your eyes. There are different meds that keep you dilated for different periods of time. Most often, we use a medication called Tropicamide 0.5%, which should keep you dilated for approximately 3-4 hours (depending on the color of your eyes. Light colored irises come down faster) If they used the 1.0% solution, which some offices do, it may take 4-6 hours. If they did something called a cycloplegic exam, you will be dilated for 24 hours. All the way up to using atropine, which is almost never done, keeping you dilated for 10 days.
So, most likely, I would say you'd be fully UNdilated in about 4 hours. Until then, bright lights will bother you, so wear some sunglasses. If it's not uncomfortable to play tennis, play tennis. If it's too bright, skip it.
Hope this helps.
