Can I go swimming with my contact lenses in?!

Question:

Can I go swimming with my contact lenses in?

I'm going to be in the pool, not the beach. I read this question:

and the best answer said something about microbes that can be found even in tap water....but the swimming pool is chlorinated, so will that make a difference?

Answers:

I wouldn't. Chlorinated water can displace or change the mechanism that holds the lens to your eye. I don't think that it would be dangerous to your eyes, or that you could damage your eyes because if that were the case no one would ever be able to open their eyes under chlorinated water, the lenses just wont stay in your eyes. Even though contact lenses can absorb an infection, this would fall under the same category as anything concerning how clean you keep your lenses in any situation. I usually obsess over keeping my lenses clean, even though I wear them 24/7. I take them out 3 times a day, sanitize them, then put them back in and I extend the wearability of my acuvue2 lenses by two weeks easily. This is something that my optomitrist cannot explain as I asked is it safe to wear them like I do. They have told me they see no reason why I can't given the overall health of my eyes.

When I swim, I wear the eye covering swimming goggles which is enough to keep them from falling out and allow me to see at the same time. I'm THAT blind.
