Eye problems: please read!!!?!
Question:
Eye problems: please read!!!?
Hey all
My friends uncle has a problem with his eyes. He cant seem to open his eyelids with out assiting them with his fingers. He says that it hurts when he helps his lids open. Doctors still havent responded. Any idea on whats goin on?
Answers:
The eyelids have a plate, called the tarsus. The levator muscle lifts the tarsal plate, and the eyelids will move up.
Your friend's uncle has lost the connection of the levator to the tarsus. It has slipped up. So when he tries to look up, the lid doesn't move.
The surgery to repair this is relatively minor. A small incision is made in front of the tarsal plate. One looks up into the area in front of the tarsal plate and asks the patient to look up. The aponeurosis of the levator tendon will be seen moving up. The surgeon grasps the tissue and sews it or connects it back to the bottom of the tarsal plate, then closes the incision.
After the patch is removed the next day, when he opens his eyes, they'll open.
You can have his uncle contact me, I'll see if I know someone in his area that can help him.
