Is Lasik surgery pretty safe at this point?!

Question:

Is Lasik surgery pretty safe at this point?

Answers:

As with any surgery, there are risks and potential complications, but overall, I think LASIK has proven itself to be pretty safe. I had PRK, the LASIK predecessor 2 weeks ago...and everything is going very well. My husband had LASIK 5 weeks ago and he has had no complications.

As long as you have a good thorough eye exam with your consult, and most LASIK/PRK centers do offer these for free, to determine if you are a good candidate (no preexisting corneal diseases, corneas are thick enough, pupils are of normal size, no glaucoma or other eye conditions), and a qualified surgeon (check them out...from a couple of reports I was reading, some of the most common reasons for problems was a surgeon who didn't have the experience and/or qualifications), follow your postop instructions, you will do just fine with very little chance of complications.
