Contacts are NOT like a handbag or a belt that you can buy...they aren't a fashion accessory and they aren't a one-size-fits-all type of thing. They are a medical device and regulated by the FDA. I cannot believe that there are beauty supply stores that sell these to just anybody off the street.

Contacts come in different base curves and diameters, that is why it is important to see an Optometrist to make sure you get contacts that fit properly in order to avoid corneal edema, ulcers, and other complications that arise from wearing poorly fitting contacts. The doctor will also make sure that your eyes are healthy enough for contact lenses...and even if the lenses have no correction in them, it doesn't negate the fact that you still need to see an eye doctor to make sure sure you get the right ones...

You can be fitted with a trial pair at your eye doctor and then once they are comfortable with the releasing the Rx, you can order your contacts online...but it is important that you have that exam FIRST and FOREMOST...
