Whats the best contact solution for Acuvue contacts, and why?!

Question:

Whats the best contact solution for Acuvue contacts, and why?

At the moment I'm using Opti-Free Replenish Solution o=and Rewetting Drops (my sister recommended it to me at the eye docors office, two days ago when I got my contacts). Also what are some tips for getting the contact in my left eye (I'm right-handed)??

Answers:

We generally use OptiFree solution with our patients. It agrees with most eyes. Aquify is definitely good though. Renu is good, but more people are allergic to its preservative. Complete is good, but was recently recalled for being contaminated. QuickCare is awesome, but more expensive, and you have to BE SURE to rinse your contacts off before you put them in. And finally, any solution that says "no rub" on it.....ignore that. Rub your contacts to clean them anyway. Cleans them better.

Tips for getting them in? Still use your right index finger to hold the contact. Use your middle fingers on each hand to control your upper and lower lids from blinking. Watch to make sure you're coming straight in to your eye with the contact. Sometimes it helps to look off to the side once you're sure it's coming in straight, and put the contact on the white part of your eye. Get the contact to release from your finger, then roll your eye around to get the lens to settle.

Good luck with it and don't get frustrated. Takes practice!
