My contact lense is in... but now it's blurry?!

Question:

My contact lense is in... but now it's blurry?

Is this is a common experience? You'll need background info to properly assess my situation: I have 20/30 vision in my left eye (NATURALLY, without any aide), and 20/200 vision in my right eye... so I just got one contact that I have to wear. I posted before about problems trying to get it in... now I have gotten it in.. and have worn it only about 3 days (which graduated increments each day... 4 hrs one day, 6 hrs the next day, and so on). It is SUCH a drastic change. The contact lense takes me from 20/200 to 20/30 vision in the right eye. However, it's sort of blurry... is this something normal? I know this is the right fit because they already did the fitting...etc... and we changed from another fit to this fit.

So did anyone have this experience? Does it go away? I put rewetting drops in and that seems to help. Thanks ahead of time.

Also-- needed to add.. I haven't had glasses since I was 7... I'm 23 years old. So it's been a LONG time since I've seen more than 20/200 in the right eye. Will it take some time to adjust?

Definitely isn't in backwards. :) I'm obsessive about putting it in the right way.. shaped like a bowl WITHOUT the weird rim. Hehe.

Answers:

"blur" is such a subjective word, isnt it?

if you are 20/200 w/o anything on that eye, but 20/30 with the contact lens ON that eye...20/30 is certainly much clearer than 20/200.

so whats causing the blur?

my only guess is that w/o the contact lens on you are likely getting some "suppression"...or in other words your brain is "ignoring" the 20/200 eye/image. but when you put the contact lens on that eye, maybe your brain stops suppressing that image and thats why you think its blurry. b/c obviously otherwise 20/30 is much, much clearer than 20/200. if this is whats going on, it is likely IMO that further wear of the lens will likely make this symptom go away...

the brain and the eyes and the way they interact can be somewhat unpredictable sometimes...
